Meet Rama Krishna Tummala, one of the very first employees to join our Actalent Hyderabad office. From starting as an individual contributor on a small team, to now leading large projects and building high-performing teams, Rama’s journey is a reflection of Actalent Hyderabad’s own growth story.

With our recent move into a beautiful and more spacious office in Hyderabad, it’s the perfect time to celebrate how far we’ve come. In this Q&A, Rama Krishna reflects on the transformation, from our early days to becoming a dynamic delivery hub. He opens up about his journey, experiences and vision for Actalent’s future.

Q: Tell us a bit about you and how your journey with Actalent began.

A: My journey with Actalent began in 2018, right as the Hyderabad office was just being established. I was among the very first employees to join, and what excited me was the opportunity to help build something from the ground up. With a background in engineering services and project delivery, I saw a chance not just to contribute, but to help shape a new team, a new culture and a new way of delivering value to our clients.

Q: As one of the first employees in the Hyderabad office, what attracted you to Actalent back then?

A: The company’s vision. From the start, there was a clear focus on building engineering services and being a true partner to clients, not just a service provider. The opportunity to help establish that model in Hyderabad, while contributing to the company’s growth, resonated deeply with me. I wanted to be part of a journey where my work would shape both outcomes and culture, and that’s exactly what Actalent offered.

Q: How has your role and the team around you evolved over the years?

A: When I started, my role focused on delivery execution with a small group of team members. As client needs grew and the Hyderabad office matured, I transitioned into a delivery manager role. The team has grown tremendously from just a handful of employees in 2018 to nearly 100 today.

Throughout this growth, we’ve maintained a high utilization rate of around 90%, a testament to both the team’s commitment and the trust our clients place in us. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to deepen client relationships, drive delivery excellence, and mentor emerging leaders within the team.

Q: What has kept you inspired to stay and grow with Actalent?

A: For me, it has been the combination of culture, leadership and opportunity. Actalent fosters a culture of collaboration and empowerment, where people are encouraged to take ownership and grow. Leadership has consistently provided both guidance and autonomy, allowing me to thrive. What inspires me most though, are the people around me—the colleagues who share a passion for engineering excellence, and the satisfaction of watching our team members take on bigger roles, grow as leaders and become true engineering experts.

Q: Are there any moments you're especially proud of in your Actalent journey?

A: There have been many meaningful moments, but a few stand out. One of my proudest achievements has been building a strong, reliable delivery team that clients consistently come back to. Earning their trust and seeing it translate into repeat business is extremely rewarding.

Another highlight has been watching our team members step into leadership roles—seeing their growth has been as fulfilling as my own. And of course, successfully managing critical projects under challenging timelines has been transformative in boosting both my confidence and credibility as a leader.

Q: How would you describe your growth, both professionally and personally, since joining the company?

A: Professionally, my journey has been about leadership development. I’ve grown from managing small-scale delivery to leading large teams, handling complex projects and building strong client relationships.

Personally, the experience has shaped me into a more resilient and patient individual. I’ve found deep fulfilment in mentoring others and watching them succeed. Over time, I’ve become better at balancing multiple priorities while staying focused on long-term goals.

Q: Where do you see Actalent’s engineering services heading in the coming years?

A: I see Actalent continuing to evolve into an even stronger strategic partner for clients. Our focus will be on delivering high-value engineering services, expanding into areas like digital engineering and advanced technologies, and scaling our offshore delivery capabilities.

With the strong foundation we’ve built — strong teams, trusted client relationships and a culture of excellence—I believe we are well-positioned to be a long-term engineering partner of choice for clients worldwide.
